My name is Dina Nasr-Heerema and I am a self-published author!
I am an elementary school teacher, a wife, and a mother. I never thought of publishing books, until I saw the reaction others had to my family’s journey to America. When I would tell the story, people where shocked, amazed, but most of all inspired!
So, with the support of my wonderful husband Rich, my incredible parents, and my great friends I was able to publish my first book and more.
As a teacher and a mother, I understand how powerful and captivating a storybook can be to children and that is one of the reasons I was motivated to pursue my dream of getting my stories out there!
My first book is entitled A Twist of Fate. It is based on true events that took place in my life and how I came to be here in the United States with my family. We had to leave Lebanon and everything behind due to the war, and our journey here was not an easy one. We moved to the United States in 1992 after being separated from our dad for about 3 years. This book tells a story of hope, courage, life and family importance. Readers of all ages can relate to it! My parents are my heroes and my angels and I wanted to share with the world a tiny piece of what they had to go through to provide a better life for their children.
My second book is entitled I Hope. My amazing daughter Jewel inspired this book. I looked at her one night and hoped that she NEVER loses this magnificent sense of wonder. This book is a children rhyming book that speaks of hopes from a mother to her child. This book sums up the dreams and wishes that every parent has for their child.
My third book is entitled Geraldina and the New Kid. It is the first book in the book series I am working on. This story embraces acceptance, friendship, and tolerance. Any child can relate to it and it is a great way to start the Geraldina and her Adventures' series. With all that goes on in society and the different issues children have to face and deal with, this is a great story to help them learn about some important life aspects that sometime get forgotten.
My Fourth book is entitled Geraldina and the Saddest Day. It is the second book in my Geraldina book series. This story explains to kids that with loss comes sadness, but with time the hurt will get less painful. I published this book during the Pandemic and wanted everyone to know that losing a loved one is not easy, but the memories shared will live on forever.
I am inspired everyday and I am excited to fill the next blank pages of my life with more cherished stories and new books!
